Effective date: August 1, 2026
Nota is a meeting-notes app for iPad (with an optional iPhone companion, Nota Mic). This policy is short because the app is built so there is almost nothing to write a policy about.
Everything Nota does — recording, transcription, AI summaries, handwritten notes, search — happens on your device. Nota has no servers, and your content is never uploaded anywhere by Nota.
Nothing.
That's all. Nota makes no other network connections.
Your recordings, transcripts, notes, and AI summaries are stored on your device. Like most iPad apps, that data is included in your own device backup (iCloud Backup or a computer backup you control), protected by your Apple account. Nota itself transmits nothing — a backup is your copy, made by your device, under your settings.
Summaries and drafts are generated by Apple Intelligence's on-device models. Your transcript is processed on the iPad itself, not on a server. AI summaries are generated by Apple's on-device models, subject to Apple's built-in safety systems. AI output can contain errors — Nota labels AI-generated content and asks you to review it before relying on it.
Recording laws vary by state and country; some require the consent of everyone being recorded. Nota announces recording with an audible tone and a persistent on-screen indicator, but obtaining any legally required consent is your responsibility.
Nota is a professional tool for business use and is not directed at children.
If Nota's privacy behavior ever changes, this policy will be updated and the effective date revised before the change ships. The current version always lives at this page.
